Preserving One-Way Garden Street
Garden Street’s one-way design has made the area safer, calmer, and more predictable for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. Residents overwhelmingly support keeping it one-way, because they’ve seen firsthand how the change has improved daily life. Restoring it to two-way would ignore clear community feedback and undo hard-won safety gains, cost the city, and be disregarding city staff suggestions. Too often, traffic decisions in Cambridge feel top-down, rushed, and disconnected from real neighborhood input. I believe in a data-driven, community-first approach where residents shape the solution. In this case, all arrive at the same conclusion, keeping Garden Street one way. Keeping Garden Street one-way is about more than just traffic, it’s about respecting local voices and restoring faith in city government. I’ll stand with the residents of Cambridge to preserve what works, fix what doesn’t, and always listen first.
