Public Works: Green Space, Urban Cleanliness & Snow Removal
Public spaces are where community happens, and they deserve real investment, not neglect. I will prioritize planting and maintaining shade trees throughout the city, especially in areas that are currently overheated or underserved by green space. Trees don’t just make neighborhoods more beautiful; they reduce heat, improve air quality, and support mental well-being. We also need to keep our streets and sidewalks clean and walkable by cutting down on red tape and ensuring regular trash pick-up and beautification efforts. Snow removal is especially critical: the city should take the lead in clearing sidewalks and bike lanes promptly, not just for convenience, but for safety. Older residents, people with disabilities, and anyone without the means to shovel should not be left stranded after every storm. Clean, snow-free bike lanes are also essential for those who rely on biking for year-round transportation. These services aren't just amenities—they’re the foundation of an accessible, livable city. With thoughtful investment and stronger accountability in Public Works, we can make every street feel more cared for and connected.
